Description

Role Summary
The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) ensures the stability, performance, and scalability of production systems by combining software engineering discipline with operational excellence. This role builds automation, improves observability, reduces toil, and drives reliability across cloud and on‑prem environments. The SRE partners closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver highly available services with predictable performance.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability & Performance
  • Maintain and improve uptime, latency, capacity, and system health across production environments.
  • Implement SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets; drive engineering decisions based on reliability metrics.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) and implement long‑term corrective actions.
Automation & Tooling
  • Build automation for deployments, configuration management, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Reduce manual operational work (“toil”) through scripting, pipelines, and self‑service tooling.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows for reliable and repeatable releases.
Monitoring & Observability
  • Design and maintain dashboards, alerts, and telemetry using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent.
  • Improve system visibility and proactively detect issues before customer impact.
Incident Management
  • Lead or participate in on‑call rotations to respond to production incidents.
  • Drive fast mitigation, clear communication, and structured post‑incident reviews.
  • Partner with engineering teams to prevent recurrence and strengthen system resilience.
Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or on‑prem virtualization platforms (VMware,Nutanix).
  • Implement infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, etc.).
  • Support container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, EKS).
Security & Compliance
  • Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and governance requirements.
  • Implement secrets management, identity controls, patching automation, and vulnerability remediation.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years in SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Production Operations.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Deep understanding of Linux and/or Windows server internals.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, routing, firewalls).
  • Experience with monitoring/observability stacks.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container ecosystems.
  • Background in software engineering or computer science.
  • Familiarity with chaos engineering, performance testing, and capacity planning.
  • Experience supporting mission‑critical enterprise workloads.
  • Certifications: AWS/Azure Architect, CKA/CKAD, or equivalent.
Success Criteria
  • Reduction in incident frequency and severity.
  • Improved SLO adherence and reliability metrics.
  • Increased automation coverage and reduced manual operational work.
  • Faster, safer deployments with minimal rollback events.
  • Clear, consistent communication during incidents and postmortems.
