Key Responsibilities:
- Migration Planning and Execution:
- Lead the migration of one (1) HA pair of Juniper SRC-3400 firewalls to one (1) HA pair of Palo Alto 3250 NGFW.
- Configure and migrate ten (10) VPN tunnels, including five (5) with Palo Alto endpoints and five (5) with Juniper endpoints.
- Discovery and Assessment:
- Perform a comprehensive discovery and assessment of existing Juniper firewall configurations and settings.
- Review customer-provided architecture, design, and configuration of the Legacy Network.
- Technical Requirements Documentation:
- Document mutually agreed technical requirements for implementation into the Target Network.
- Validate business and technical goals related to the Legacy Network and apply them to the Target Network configurations.
- Configuration and Integration:
- Confirm the installation of Expedition in the environment to facilitate migration.
- Review the Juniper configuration file to establish a timeline for delivering the Golden image for migration.
- Perform base configuration for the Palo Alto NGFW, including administrative authentication, security profiles, threat profile settings, and device configurations.
- Design and Deployment:
- Design and configure the Target Network firewalls, either standalone or in HA Active/Passive mode as appropriate.
- Develop a Migration Plan and Acceptance Test Plan documentation prior to production cutover activities.
- Policy Migration and Validation:
- Manage the migration of legacy firewall policies and their elements into Palo Alto configurations using Expedition.
- Conduct customer validation sessions for policy conversion and security policy creation.
- Production Cutover and Support:
- Assist the customer during the scheduled migration, including troubleshooting, verifying functionality, and managing technical support cases within the cutover window.
- Facilitate the transition of the identified VPN tunnels from legacy firewalls to Palo Alto platforms.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in network security, specifically with Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Strong understanding of VPN configurations, NAT, and security policies.
- Experience with migration projects and familiarity with network assessment tools.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Palo Alto Networks (PCNSE, PCCSA) and Juniper Networks (JNCIA, JNCIS).
- Experience with Expedition.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot network issues effectively.
